The Washington Post Global Opinions section has named award-winning Mexican journalist and Univision anchor León Krauze its newest contributing columnist. Krauze’s writing will focus on American foreign policy, Latin America, and a variety of issues impacting Latino communities in the U.S.
“As we grow the range of global representation in our roster, León will contribute an unparalleled understanding of both American and Latin American politics informed by a distinguished career reporting in the U.S. and Mexico for nearly 20 years,” said Eli Lopez, Senior Editor of the Global Opinions section.
Krauze anchors the nightly news for KMEX Univision 34, the most-watched broadcast station in Los Angeles*, and also hosts “Epicentro”, the national network’s weekly news podcast. He co-hosts “Real Trumpcast” for Slate, where he is also a contributor. His writing has appeared in The New Yorker, The Daily Beast, Letras Libres and several other publications in Mexico and the United States. Krauze has won several journalism prizes, including eight Emmys, an Edward R. Murrow award, LA Press Club award, and a Golden Mic award. For two years, he held the prestigious position of Wallis Annenberg Chair in Journalism at USC, where he is now a senior fellow at The Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership & Policy.
The Post will begin publishing his columns in April.
