Univision Continues Primetime Momentum with Sixth Straight Week of Audience Growth among Adults 18-49; Network Delivering Year-Over-Year Ratings Increases in the New 2019/2020 Broadcast Season

Weeknight Primetime Lineup Drives Univision to Top Five Broadcast Network Ranking for Third Consecutive Week Across All Key Demos

 

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of October 7, 2019 to October 13, 2019

  • For the sixth consecutive week, Univision increased its primetime audience week-over-week among Adults 18-49 (+2% to 572,000).
  • Univision finished as the fifth most-watched broadcast network during primetime, ahead of The CW for the third consecutive week with 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 572,000 Adults 18-49 and 247,000 Adults 18-34.
  • Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34.
  • Univision delivered audience growth (+4%) during primetime from the comparable week in 2018 as ABC (-35%), CBS (-14%), NBC (-24%), The CW (-10%) and Telemundo (-22%) all reported audience declines with the key Adult 18 to 49 demographic.
  • Univision captured the No. 1 Spanish-language network ranking in primetime with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo for the sixth consecutive week among Total Viewers 2+ (+25% adv.) and Adults 18-49 (+26% adv.) as well as fourth consecutive week among Adults 18-34 (+24% adv.).
  • Monday through Friday, Univision increased its primetime audience among Total Viewers 2+ (+5% to 1.5 million), Adults 18-49 (+11% to 665,000) and Adults 18-34 (+10% to 283,000) and drove it to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television, outperforming Telemundo during weeknight primetime by double-digits with Total Viewers 2+ (+31% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+39% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+35% adv.).
    • At 8 p.m., “La Rosa de Guadalupe” increased its audience from the prior week among Total Viewers 2+ (+10% to 1.5 million), Adults 18-49 (+19% to 624,000) and Adults 18-34 (+14% to 281,000), positioning Univision ahead of Telemundo in the 8 p.m. hour with double-digit audience advantages over the second hour of “Exatlón Estados Unidos” among Adults 18-34 (+31%) for the fourth consecutive week.
    • At 9 p.m., “La Usurpadora” delivered its highest-rated weekly performance with week-over-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+3% to 1.7 million), Adults 18-49 9 (+7% to 739,000) and Adults 18-34 (+6% to 315,000). With double-digit year-over-year audience growth to the network’s Monday through Friday 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. time slot, “La Usurpadora” also outperformed first-run episodes of such English-language dramas as ABC’s “Emergence” and “How To Get Away With Murder;” CBS’ “Evil,” “Madam Secretary” and “S.W.A.T.;” NBC’s “Blacklist;” and The CW’s “All American,” “Batwoman,” “Black Lightning,” “Charmed,” “Dynasty,” “Legacies,” “Nancy Drew,” “Riverdale,” “Supergirl” and “Supernatural” among both the key Adult 18 to 49 (+17%) and 18 to 34 (+16%) demographics.
    • At 10 p.m., “El Dragón” averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+2% to 1.3 million), Adults 18-49 (+8% to 631,000) and Adults 18-34 (+11% to 253,000) than its premiere week. The series also out-delivered Telemundo’s “No Te Puedes Esconder” for the second consecutive week among Total Viewers 2+ (+59% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+76% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+49% adv.).
  • On Sunday night, the fourth telecast of “Reina de la Canción” attracted 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 421,000 Adults 18-49 and 186,000 Adults 18-34 on Univision. The reality competition series averaged more Total Viewers 2+ (+15%), Adults 18-49 (+18%) and Adults 18-34 (+17%) in the second hour compared to the first hour and outperformed The CW’s entire original primetime line-up consisting of “Batwoman” (+15% adv.) and “Supergirl” (+46% adv.) by double-digits among the young 18 to 34 viewers.
  • Univision’s Sunday night news programs, “Aquí y Ahora” (431,000) and “Crónicas” (412,000) increased their Adult 18-49 audience levels by +9% compared to the prior Sunday. “Aquí y Ahora” also delivered week-over-week audience gains among Total Viewers 2+ (+20% to 1.1 million) and Adults 18-34 (+14% to 206,000) while “Crónicas” attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+49% adv.) and Adults 18-49 (+20% adv.) than Telemundo’s “El Secreto de Selena” head-to-head in the Sunday 10 p.m. hour.
