Univision Finishes as Fifth Most-Watched Broadcast Network in Primetime, Outperforming

The CW for 11th Consecutive Week Across Key Demos

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of December 3, 2018 to December 9, 2018

For the entire week, Univision finished as the fifth most-watched broadcast network in primetime, regardless of language, out-performing The CW for the eleventh consecutive week since the start of the 2018/2019 season, averaging 1.4 million Total Viewers 2+, 616,000 Adults 18-49 and 251,000 Adults 18-34.

Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on five out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34.

Univision also ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during primetime, out-performing Telemundo by double-digit margins among Total Viewers 2+ (+29% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+35% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+27% adv.). This marked the sixth consecutive week that Univision occupied the top-ranked Spanish-language network position with Total Viewers 2+ and second consecutive week with both Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

Propelled by its weeknight primetime novelas/series and Thursday night’s “Liga MX” semi-final between UNAM and America, Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+26% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+28% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+25% adv.).

  • Averaging more than half-a-million Adult 18-49 viewers, Univision’s “Jesus” (590,000), “Mi Familia Tiene Mas Familia” (550,000) and “Amar A Muerte” (561,000) out-delivered Telemundo’s “La Sultana” (+42% adv.), “Falsa Identidad” (+5%) and “Señora Acero V” (+22% adv.) in the respective 8pm, 9pm and 10pm hours.
  • “Jesus” (230,000), “Mi Familia Tiene Mas Familia” (230,000) and “Amar A Muerte” (224,000) drew in more young Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s (“Single Parents,” “Black-ish,” “Million Little Things,” “Splitting Up Together,” and “Speechless”), CBS’ (“Murphy Brown” and “Madam Secretary”), NBC’s (“Blindspot,” “ Will & Grace,” “I Feel Bad” and “Midnight, Texas”) and CW’s (“Supernatural,” “Riverdale,” “Legacies,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “Charmed,” “Black Lightning,” “All American,” “Dynasty” and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”).  Among key Adults 18-49, “Jesus” and “Amar A Muerte” ranked higher than first-run episodes of NBC’s (“I Feel Bad” and “Midnight, Texas”) and CW’s (“Legacies,” “Riverdale,” “DCS Legends of Tomorrow,” “Black Lightning,” “Charmed,” “All American,” “Dynasty” and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”).
  • Thursday night’s special live coverage of the “Liga MX” semi-final match between UNAM and America averaged 1.8 million Total Viewers 2+, 906,000 Adults 18-49 and 321,000 Adults 18-34, making it the most-watched “Liga MX” match this season compared to any network. The semi-final made Univision the No. 4 broadcast network, ahead of NBC and The CW with Adults 18-34.  UNAM vs. America also ranked among the top 10 most-watched programs on broadcast television on Thursday night with more Adult 18-34 viewers than the entire original line-up on The CW (“Supernatural” and “Legacies”) and first-run episodes of NBC’s (“Good Place,” “Will & Grace” and “I Feel Bad”) and CBS’ (“S.W.A.T.” and “Murphy Brown”).  With double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+34% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+58% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+39% adv.), the semi-final drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language Television for the entire night.

On Saturday night, the airing of the “Liga MX” semi-finals between Cruz Azul and Monterrey, made Univision the No. 3 Broadcast network ranking ahead of ABC and NBC among Adults 18-34. The soccer match delivered double-digit audience growth to the network’s 7:30pm to 10pm time slot than the previous Saturday among Total Viewers 2+ (+47% to 1.3 million), Adults 18-49 (+47% to 636,000), and Adults 18-34 (+64% to 265,000). The match also propelled Univision to finish as the No. 1 Spanish-Language network, out-delivering Telemundo by double-digit margins among Total Viewers 2+ (+31% adv.) and Adults 18-49 (+27% adv.) as well as +3% advantage with Adults 18-34 for the entire night

Sunday night’s “Liga MX” semi-final match between America and UNAM captured 1.7 million Total Viewers 2+, 897,000 Adults 18-49, and 396,000 Adults 18-34, making it the second highest-rated “Liga MX” match this season on any network.

  • Made Univision the No. 3 Broadcast Network, out-delivering ABC (+17% adv.), CBS (+15% adv.) and The CW (+28% adv.) by double-digit margins among Adults 18-34 for the entire night.
  • Positioned Univision as the 1 Spanish-Language network for the entire night, out-performing Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+46% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+80% adv.), and Adults 18-34 (+55% adv.).
  • America vs. UNAM ranked among the top 10 most-watched programs on broadcast television on Sunday night with more Adult 18-34 viewers than the first-run episodes of ABC’s season one finale of “Dancing With The Stars: Juniors,” CBS’ “60 Minutes,” “God Friended Me,” “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Madam Secretary” and CW’s “Charmed.” Additionally, the semi-final match drew in more Adults 18-49 than the first-run episodes of ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars: Juniors,” CBS’ “Madam Secretary” and CW’s “Charmed.”

The 10pm telecast of “Crónicas” on Sunday night averaged 934,000 Total Viewers 2+, 470,000 Adults 18-49 and 213,000 Adults 18-34, positioning Univision as the No. 1 Spanish-Language network in the hour, out-performing Telemundo’s one-hour series finale of “Don Francisco Te Invita” among Total Viewers 2+ (+5% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+53% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+51% adv.).
