WHAT’S NEW:
After a surprising turn of events in the 8th Gala of “Reina de la Canción,” three top contenders were sent off the competition, now all contestants are at risk of elimination in the semifinal round. Claiming that stars are made by the fans, “El Big Boss,” executive producer Daddy Yankee, left the future of the Reina hopefuls up to the audience vote. For this week’s DY Challenge, Sony Music and Daddy Yankee have worked together to arrange unreleased songs for each of the contestants – the winner could end up using this song as her first original single.
Reggaeton superstar Anuel AA joins the show’s expert panel of judges this week, which includes urban and Latin pop sensation Natti Natasha, regional Mexican singer-songwriter Joss Favela and iconic tropical music superstar, Olga Tañón. Also, the show will have special musical performances by worldwide sensation and Casa Estudio director Pedro Capó, urban music stars Sech and Lunay, pop star Kanny Garcia and the popular Banda MS.
Anything can happen the last gala, ahead of the finale next Sunday, November 24th.
ON LAST SUNDAY’S SHOW:
- Giselle Amelunge was saved by the audience vote and remains in the competition.
- A duel round paired up the contestants and pit them against each other. The judges chose Giselle Amelunge, La Vikina, Wanda Lopez and Yennis Bencosme, as the losers of the sing-off.
- Then, Daddy Yankee, who took the fourth seat in the judging panel, announced that Wanda Lopez was leaving the show.
- For the second round of performances, the contestants had to do a show inspired by some of the greatest musical acts in the history of Univision’s music award shows.
- The participants also met with Leila Cobo, Billboard’s vice president/ Latin industry lead, and the recognized publicist Mayna Nevarez, founder and CEO of Nevarez Communications, who granted them a masterclass in entertainment PR which prepared them for an ensuing one-on-one interview with Univision Noticias award-winning journalist María Antonieta Collins. In the interview, Gladys Ruiz shared the tragic story of her father’s heroic death.
- At the end of the round, due to her performance, Aimée Miranda was eliminated. Then, Daddy Yankee announced that since it is the fans who make the stars, their vote would decide who should make it to the next show.

Después de un sorprendente giro en la 8a Gala de “Reina de la Canción”, se eliminó a tres de las favoritas, y ahora todas las concursantes corren peligro de ser eliminadas en la ronda semifinal. Afirmando que a las estrellas las hacen los fans, el productor ejecutivo Daddy Yankee, “El Big Boss”, dejó a votación popular el futuro de las aspirantes a reina. Para el DY Challenge de esta semana, Sony Music y Daddy Yankee colaboraron para hacer canciones inéditas para cada una de las concursantes. La ganadora podría terminar usando la canción como su primer sencillo original.
Esta semana, la superestrella del reguetón Anuel AA se une al experto jurado que incluye a la cantante de música urbana y pop latino Natti Natasha, el cantautor de música regional mexicana Joss Favela y la emblemática superestrella de música tropical Olga Tañón. Además, el programa contará con actuaciones musicales especiales por Pedro Capó, sensación internacional y director de la Casa Estudio, las estrellas de música urbana Sech y Lunay, la estrella pop Kanny García y la popular Banda MS.
Cualquier cosa puede suceder en la última gala antes de la gran final, el próximo domingo, 24 de noviembre.
DURANTE EL PROGRAMA DEL DOMINGO PASADO:
- Giselle Amelunge se salvó gracias al voto de la audiencia y sigue en la competencia.
- En la ronda de duelos las concursantes fueron emparejadas y compitieron una contra la otra. Los miembros del jurado decidieron que Giselle Amelunge, La Vikina, Wanda López y Yennis Bencosme perdieron sus duelos.
- Luego, Daddy Yankee, quien ocupó el cuarto asiento en el jurado, anunció que Wanda López dejaría el show.
- Para la segunda ronda de actuaciones, las concursantes tuvieron que montar un espectáculo inspirado en algunas de las mejores presentaciones en la historia de los programas de premios a la música de Univision.
