Pop Duo Jesse & Joy Will Receive a Recognition for Their Work Protecting the Environment and Defending Animal Rights
“Premios Juventud” Will Air Live on Univision, Thursday, July 18 at 7 p.m.
MIAMI – JUNE 27, 2019 –The most anticipated celebration of the summer, Univision’s “Premios Juventud” youth awards, today announced the four recipients of this year’s “Agent of Change” award. For the first time, the work of artists who are paying it forward are also being recognized along with two young Hispanic entrepreneurs that are making a social impact in their community. The award-winning musical duo Jesse & Joy join, previously announced, Maluma, as recipients of this coveted recognition that will take place during the “Premios Juventud” ceremony to air live on Univision, Thursday, July 18, at 7 p.m. ET.
“At Univision, we are proud to recognize and honor youth who are making positive contributions in and for our community. ‘Premios Juventud’ is a celebration of music and pop culture, and through the ‘Agent of Change’ award, we seek to place the spotlight on individuals committed to leaving a positive mark,” said Ignacio Meyer, senior vice president of Entertainment and Music at Univision. “Whether it is a beloved superstar or an everyday hero, we want their stories to inspire and motivate young Latinos to become leaders for change.”
Winners of multiple prestigious music awards, which include GRAMMY®, Latin GRAMMY®, Premio Lo Nuestro and Premios Juventud, Jesse & Joy seek not only to entertain their fans but to also pay-it-forward. The siblings have worked with organizations such as UnidosUS and Voto Latino to empower the Latino community in this country, and with PETA and Animal Heroes to defend animal rights.
“We feel deeply honored and blessed to receive this recognition,’ said Jesse & Joy. “This motivates us not only to want to continue helping change the world, but also to help inspire others to do so. And all of us together, little by little, can make this world a better place. Joining Jesse & Joy and Maluma, the recipients of the “Agente de Cambio” for young Latinos making a social impact in their community, are:
- Alondra Toledo (23) – At her young age, Alondra has been an advocate for the deaf community in Puerto Rico for over a decade. She is the creator of UnderstHand, an app that facilitates the communication between deaf community and others. This year she won the prestigious Global Student Entrepreneur Award in China. She will graduate this summer with a bachelor’s in business marketing.
- Carlos Osuna (22) – This young fashion designer from Chicago uses his talents to design clothing for people with disabilities. His creations have been recognized in the fashion world, leading him to win many awards, including one by the prestigious design house Driehaus Designs.
Also, for the first time on “Premios Juventud” a motivational speaker will join the performing lineup. Daniel Habif, creator of the movement #Inquebrantables (#Unbreakable) and one of the most recognized Hispanic speakers worldwide, will motivate and inspire the audience through the use of music and poetry.
As previously announced, the four-hour musical award special will kick-off live with the “PJ Takeover,” at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. CT) hosted by Borja Voces, Clarissa Molina and Jomari Goyso, followed by “Premios Juventud Award Show” hosted by CNCO, Lali and Alejandra Espinoza.

El dúo pop Jesse & Joy recibirá el reconocimiento por su labor protegiendo al medio ambiente y en defensa de los derechos de los animales

MIAMI –27 DE JUNIO DE 2019– La más esperada celebración del verano, “Premios Juventud” de Univision, anunció hoy a los cuatro galardonados con el premio “Agente de Cambio” de este año. Por primera vez, también se está reconociendo la labor de artistas que apoyan con su arte, además de dos jóvenes empresarios hispanos que están teniendo un impacto social en su comunidad. El galardonado dúo musical Jesse & Joy se sumará a Maluma, a quien ya se había anunciado, como beneficiario de este anhelado reconocimiento, que se otorgará durante la ceremonia de “Premios Juventud” el jueves, 18 de julio a las 7 p.m. Este por Univision.

Los ganadores de “Agente de Cambio” otorgados a jóvenes latinos que tienen un impacto social en su comunidad, que acompañarán a Jesse & Joy y Maluma, son:
- Alondra Toledo (23) – A pesar de su edad, Alondra lleva más de una década velando por la comunidad de sordos en Puerto Rico. Es la creadora de UnderstHand, una aplicación que facilita la comunicación entre sordos y otras personas. Este año ganó el prestigioso premio Global Student Entrepreneur Award en China. Se graduará este verano con una licenciatura en mercadeo empresarial.
- Carlos Osuna (22) – Este joven diseñador de modas de Chicago usa su talento a fin de crear ropa para personas con discapacidades. Sus creaciones han recibido reconocimiento en el mundo de la moda, lo que lo ha llevado a ganar muchos premios, entre ellos uno por la prestigiosa casa de diseño Driehaus Designs.
Además, por primera vez en “Premios Juventud”, se presentará un orador motivacional. Daniel Habif, creador del movimiento #Inquebrantables (#Unbreakable) y uno de los más reconocidos oradores hispanos del mundo, motivará e inspirará a la audiencia por medio de la música y poesía.
Como se anunció anteriormente, el especial de premios musicales, que durará cuatro horas, se iniciará en vivo con “PJ Takeover” a las 7 p.m. Este/Pacífico (6 p.m. CT), bajo la conducción de Borja Voces, Clarissa Molina y Jomari Goyso, seguido por “Premios Juventud Award Show”, presentado por CNCO, Lali y Alejandra Espinoza.
