Univision’s Premio Lo Nuestro Makes Music History with Electrifying Live Premieres, Exhilarating Remixes and Emotional Moments
Ozuna Was the Top Winner with Nine Awards, Followed by Reik and Wisin with Five Each and Natti Natasha with Four
Roberto Carlos Was Honored with Premio a la Excelencia, While Intocable and Daddy Yankee Received Lifetime Achievement Awards

MIAMI – FEBRUARY 21, 2019 — The star-studded live telecast of Premio Lo Nuestro marked a new era in its history with a captivating display of the power of Latin music. New voices joined music icons for the most diverse and contemporary line up ever for Hispanic America’s premier TV awards show.
Premio Lo Nuestro blended established artists and traditional rhythms with emerging singers and contemporary styles. The four-hour show featured 15 television premieres by chart-topping artists, ground-breaking collaborations, exclusive remixes, in addition to the presentation of awards for fan favorites in 28 categories representing today’s ever-expanding musical tastes.
Puerto Rican reggaetón/Latin trap artist and actor, Ozuna took home nine Premio Lo Nuestro awards, including Urban Male Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, “Crossover” Collaboration of the Year, Pop/Rock Song of the Year, among others. Latin pop band Reik and music megastar Wisin were other big winners of the night, with five trophies each for Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Pop/Rock Song of the Year and Pop/Rock Collaboration of the Year. Natti Natasha led this year’s nominations overall and was the top female winner: Tropical Song of the Year, Tropical Collaboration of the Year, Urban Song of the Year and Urban Collaboration of the Year.
For the third consecutive year, Colombian reggaetón/Latin superstar, J Balvin was honored with the prestigious Premio Lo Nuestro Artist of the Year award. He also received Social Artist of the Year and Video of the Year awards.
The 31st edition of Premio Lo Nuestro aired Thursday, February 21, live from Miami and was hosted by Alejandra Espinoza, Víctor Manuelle and Maite Perroni.
Among the highlights from Premio Lo Nuestro 2019:
- Marc Anthony opened the show with the exclusive world premiere of his highly anticipated new salsa single in over five years, “Tu Vida en la Mía;” followed by Thalía, Lali, and Natti Natasha, together for the first time on a stage in a show-stopping performance.
- Alejandro Sanz sang “Esa Mujer” with Roberto Carlos for the first time on TV, as part of an emotional tribute to the legendary Brazilian singer/songwriter winner of this year’s Premio a la Excelencia. Joss Favela and Reik joined the unforgettable moment with a modern remix of “El Gato que Está Triste y Azul,” and “Amigo,” and ended the musical on a high note singing “Un Millón de Amigos.” Sanz also sang his new single “Back in the City,” also a TV first.
- Intocable, the most nominated Regional Mexican band in the history of Premio Lo Nuestro and winner of the most awards in its category, delighted the audience with two of their newest hits, and received Premio Lo Nuestro’s Lifetime Achievement Award for 25 years in the industry.
- Megastar singer-songwriter Daddy Yankee was also recognized with Premio a la Trayectoria. He hit the stage of Premio Lo Nuestro to celebrate the 15th anniversary of his iconic album “Barrio Fino” with a special performance of six of his greatest songs interpreted by J Balvin, De La Ghetto, Ozuna, Yandel and Zion & Lennox, and premiered on TV his latest single “Con Calma.”
- Mexican idol Pepe Aguilar, Brazilian superstar Anitta, urban music phenom Farruko and bachata sensation Prince Royce sang their most popular hits to the rhythm of salsa as part of an epic presentation produced exclusively for Premio Lo Nuestro by award-winning and critically acclaimed producer/musician/composer and musical director for the telecast, Sergio George.
- Other Premio Lo Nuestro TV premieres included: “Cama Vacía” (Ozuna), “Calma” (Pedro Capó and Farruko), “Hipócrita” (Anuel AA), “Justicia” (Natti Natasha and Silvestre Dangond), “La Plata” (Juanes), “Nada Nuevo” (Christian Nodal), “Pa’ Mala Yo” (Natti Natasha), “Reggaetón” (J Balvin) and “Te Vi” (Piso 21).
- For the first time ever, the pre-show featured a worldwide premiere by social media content creator and fast-rising music star Lele Pons Fuego.
This year’s nominations were based on the top 1,000 current and recurrent Spanish and English-language songs with the most plays on all Univision Uforia radio stations from January 1 to October 31, 2018. More than 1.8 million fans voted online from January 8 through January 21 to select the winners.

MIAMI —21 DE FEBRERO DE 2019— La estelar trasmisión en vivo de Premio Lo Nuestro marcó una nueva era en su historia con un cautivador despliegue de la fuerza de la música latina. Voces nuevas se sumaron a ídolos musicales para el programa más diverso y contemporáneo jamás visto en el más destacado show de premiación de la televisión hispana en EE. UU.
Premio Lo Nuestro combinó artistas consolidados y ritmos tradicionales con cantantes emergentes y estilos contemporáneos. El programa de cuatro horas de duración incluyó 15 estrenos en televisión por populares artistas, colaboraciones innovadoras y remezclas exclusivas, además de la entrega de premios a los favoritos de los fans en 28 categorías que representan el actual gusto musical, que es cada vez más variado.
Ozuna, actor y artista puertorriqueño de reggaetón/trap latino, recibió nueve Premios, entre ellos Artista Urbano Masculino del Año, Sencillo del Año, Canción del Año, Colaboración del Año, Colaboración “Crossover” del Año y Canción Pop/Rock del Año, entre otros. El grupo de pop latino Reik y la megaestrella musical Wisin fueron los otros grandes ganadores de la velada, con cinco trofeos cada uno por Sencillo del Año, Canción del Año, Colaboración del Año, Canción Pop/Rock del Año y Colaboración Pop/Rock del Año. Natti Natasha, quien encabezó las nominaciones de este año, fue la mujer más galardonada con cuatro premios por Canción Tropical del Año, Colaboración Tropical del Año, Canción Urbana del Año y Colaboración Urbana del Año.
Por tercer año consecutivo, J Balvin, superestrella colombiana de reggaetón/música latina, ganó el prestigioso Premio Lo Nuestro al Artista del Año. También recibió los premios al Artista Social del Año y Video del Año.
La 31a edición de Premio Lo Nuestro se trasmitió el jueves, 21 de febrero, en vivo desde Miami, bajo la conducción de Alejandra Espinoza, Víctor Manuelle y Maite Perroni.
Entre los momentos más destacados de Premio Lo Nuestro de 2019:
- Marc Anthony dio inicio al programa con el exclusivo estreno mundial de su muy esperado sencillo de salsa, “Tu vida en la mía”, su primero en más de cinco años, seguido por Thalía, Lali y Natti Natasha, juntas por primera vez en el escenario en una actuación deslumbrante.
- Alejandro Sanz cantó “Esa Mujer” con Roberto Carlos por primera vez en televisión como parte de un emotivo homenaje al idolatrado cantautor brasileño, ganador del Premio a la Excelencia este año. Joss Favela y Reik se unieron a este momento inolvidable con una mezcla moderna de “El gato que está triste y azul” y “Amigo”, y terminaron el espectáculo musical con una nota culminante cantando: “Un millón de amigos”. Sanz además cantó su nuevo sencillo “Back in the City,” también por primera vez en TV.
- Intocable, la banda de música regional mexicana con más nominaciones en la historia de Premio Lo Nuestro y la ganadora de más premios en su categoría, deleitó a la audiencia con dos de sus éxitos más recientes y recibió el Premio Lo Nuestro a la Trayectoria por sus 25 años en el entorno musical.
- El cantautor megaestrella Daddy Yankee también fue homenajeado con el Premio a la Trayectoria. Se presentó en el escenario de Premio Lo Nuestro para celebrar el 15to aniversario de su legendario álbum “Barrio Fino” con una presentación especial de seis de sus más grandes éxitos, interpretados por J Balvin, De La Ghetto, Ozuna, Yandel y Zion & Lennox y estrenó en TV su más reciente éxito, “Con Calma”.
- El ídolo mexicano Pepe Aguilar, la superestrella brasileña Anitta, el fenómeno de la música urbana Farruko y la sensación de la bachata Prince Royce cantaron sus éxitos más populares en ritmo de salsa como parte de una épica presentación producida exclusivamente para Premio Lo Nuestro por Sergio George, galardonado y aclamado productor, músico y compositor que actuó como director musical de la transmisión.
- Otros estrenos televisivos de Premio Lo Nuestro fueron: “Cama Vacía” (Ozuna), “Calma” (Pedro Capó y Farruko), “Hipócrita” (Anuel AA), “Justicia” (Natti Natasha y Silvestre Dangond), “La Plata” (Juanes), “Nada Nuevo” (Christian Nodal), “Pa’ Mala Yo” (Natti Natasha), “Reggaetón” (J Balvin) y “Te Vi” (Piso 21).
- Por primera vez en la historia, el programa de antesala incluyó un estreno musical por una creadora de contenido para redes sociales y la cada vez más popular estrella Lele Pons junto a Fuego.
Las nominaciones de este año se basaron en las 1,000 canciones actuales y recurrentes en inglés y español más populares y tocadas en todas las estaciones de radio de Univision Uforia del 1 de enero al 31 de octubre de 2018. Más de 1.8 millones de fans votaron por internet del 8 al 21 de enero para seleccionar a los ganadores.
