Univision Statement on Dish Earnings

We at Univision do not take any pleasure in Dish TV’s loss of nearly 200,000 subscribers in the second quarter. In fact, we are concerned Dish’s decision to turn its back on Hispanic audiences—a growing community that already accounts for nearly 20% of Dish’s subscriber base—will exacerbate such losses going forward (as Dish itself alerted its shareholders in its SEC filing). We are confident a renewed partnership that leverages our top-rated news, sports and entertainment programming will not only mitigate ongoing subscriber losses but propel Dish to greater long-term growth.


En Univision no nos alegramos de la pérdida de casi 200,000 suscritores por Dish TV en el segundo trimestre. De hecho, nos preocupa que la decisión de Dish de darle la espalda a la audiencia hispana —una comunidad en crecimiento que ya representa casi 20% de los suscritores de Dish— no hará sino exacerbar tales pérdidas en el futuro (como el propio Dish les avisó a sus suscritores en los documentos que presentó ante SEC. Estamos seguros de que renovar una alianza para aprovechar nuestra programación de alta sintonía de noticias, deportes y entretenimiento no solo mitigará la pérdida continua de suscritores, sino que también impulsará significativo crecimiento a largo plazo en Dish.
