NEW YORK – JULY 17, 2018 – Univision Communications Inc (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, announced today that Isaac Lee has decided to step down as Chief Content Officer of UCI, after successfully completing the mandate of aligning the content operations of both UCI and Televisa.
Lee created and led a joint task force between UCI and Televisa that has generated a rich pipeline of diverse and fresh content to compete more effectively in a highly-competitive media marketplace. He initiated the first-ever global Pilot Season in Spanish-language television for Mexico and the U.S., opening the doors to 55 independent third-party producers that pitched more than 100 projects, some of which are already in production.
Today concludes Lee’s seven and a half year term with Univision, where he led Univision News, Univision Digital and finally all content including The Root, The Onion and Gizmodo Media before taking the joint role as Chief Content Officer of UCI and Televisa in January 2017. During his tenure, Univision News won more than 100 prestigious awards for its outstanding journalism, including several EMMY’s, Premio de Periodismo Rey de España, IRE, Cronkite, Alfred I. Dupont-Columbia, Peabody, Edward R. Murrow Award amongst others. Daniel Coronell, a formidable journalist and TV producer, will continue as President of News.

At Univision, Lee created the Los Angeles-based premium content development and production hub, Story House Entertainment, which produces scripted and non-scripted programming in English and Spanish. Story House Entertainment developed three seasons of the popular series “El Chapo,” co-produced with Netflix, as well as a series of documentaries including “Hate Rising,” “Residente,” “Outpost,” and the award-winning documentary “Science Fair,” which won Sundance’s Audience Award in 2018. A new drama, “Tijuana,” set in the Mexican border town, is in production. Two additional docu-series, “Murder Mountain” and “Who Killed Malcolm X,” also co-produced with Netflix, are in production.
Lee will start his own production company developing the same diverse relevant, independent content that will appeal to diverse audiences globally.

Isaac Lee renuncia a su cargo de Director Ejecutivo de Contenido de Univision
NUEVA YORK – 17 DE JULIO DE 2018 – Univision Communications Inc (UCI), la principal empresa de medios de comunicación al servicio de la comunidad hispana en Estados Unidos anunció hoy que Isaac Lee ha decidido dejar el cargo de Director Ejecutivo de Contenido de UCI tras cumplir con éxito la meta de alinear las operaciones de contenido de UCI y Televisa.
Lee creó y dirigió un grupo de trabajo conjunto entre UCI y Televisa, que ha generado una fuente de contenido diverso y novedoso para competir más eficientemente en un mercado mediático altamente competitivo. Inició la primera temporada piloto de televisión internacional en español para México y Estados Unidos, abriendo así las puertas a 55 productoras independientes de terceros que ofrecieron más de 100 proyectos, algunos de los cuales ya se están produciendo.
Hoy concluyen los siete años y medio de Lee en Univision, donde dirigió Univision Noticias, Univision Digital y finalmente, todo el contenido, incluido el de The Root, The Onion y Gizmodo Media, antes de asumir en enero de 2017 el cargo de Director Ejecutivo de Contenido tanto de UCI como Televisa. Durante su trayectoria, Univision Noticias ganó más de 100 prestigiosos premios por su excelente periodismo, entre ellos varios EMMY, el Premio de Periodismo Rey de España, IRE, Cronkite, Alfred I. Dupont-Columbia, Peabody y Edward R. Murrow. Daniel Coronell, un formidable periodista y productor de televisión, continuará desempeñándose como Presidente de Noticias.

En Univision, Lee creó Story House Entertainment, un destacado centro de desarrollo y producción de contenido ubicado en Los Ángeles, que produce programación con y sin guion en inglés y español. Story House Entertainment creó tres temporadas de la popular serie “El Chapo”, que se produjo con Netflix, además de una serie de documentales, entre ellos “Hate Rising”, “Residente”, “Outpost” y el galardonado documental “Science Fair”, que ganó el Premio de la Audiencia de Sundance en 2018. Un nuevo drama, “Tijuana”, ambientado en la ciudad mexicana en la frontera, está en proceso de producción. Dos series documentales adicionales, “Murder Mountain” y “Who Killed Malcolm X”, también se producen conjuntamente con Netflix.
Lee iniciará su propia compañía de producción para crear el mismo contenido relevante e independiente que atrae a audiencias diversas a nivel mundial.
