Broadcasting from the Tejano Capital of the World, beloved Radio Station Tejano & Proud has been offering San Antonio audiences the music they love for three decades
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – JUNE 12, 2018 – Univision San Antonio’s KXTN 107.5 Tejano & Proud celebrates 30 years of serving its listeners and community on June 15 and 16 with a free, family-friendly festival. It will include tributes to three of the genre’s biggest stars as well as a concert with top performers. The two-day event, will feature Tejano legends including La Mafia, A.B. Quintanilla, Michael Salgado, Ram Herrera and David Lee Garza y los Musicales, among others, performing live in the city’s Rosedale Park.
The festival will offer a special tribute to the recently departed Tejano music pioneer, legend, and multiple Latin Grammy winner Jimmy Gonzalez. Throughout the weekend, the festival will also pay tribute to two late stars who propelled the popularity of the genre. Tejano singer and songwriter Emilio Navaira will be honored on Friday night, and Selena Quintanilla Pérez, the Queen of Tejano music, will be remembered on Saturday.
Founded in 1988 to meet the growing demand for Tejano music, KXTN started by broadcasting hits from established entertainers such as Valerio Longoria, Flaco Jiménez, Latin Breed, Royal Jesters and Sunny Ozuna. The station’s popularity has increased as Texas’ Mexican-Americans made the sound mainstream in the 90s with Selena, David Lee, Emilio, La Mafia and Grupo Mazz.
“It is with much pride that we celebrate 30 years alongside our community,” said Chris Morris, vice president & general manager of Univision San Antonio. “This weekend is an opportunity to look back at how the station has transported loyal fans through music and reaffirms our continued commitment to bringing our audience more of the sounds they want to hear.”
Thirty years after its founding, the station’s strong legacy continues, demonstrating share growth early this year of 55% among Adults 18-49 and 30% among Adults 25-54, compared to the Fall of 2017*. Also, in 2016, KXTN became the official Spanish-language radio station of the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs.
The festival will take place Friday June 15 from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Saturday June 16 from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. at Rosedale Park, 303 Dartmouth St., San Antonio.

Trasmitiendo desde la sede de todo lo tejano, la popular emisora Tejano & Proud viene ofreciendo a la audiencia de San Antonio la música que le encanta desde hace tres décadas
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – 12 DE JUNIO DE 2018 – La estación de radio Tejano & Proud KXTN 107.5 de Univision en San Antonio celebrará 30 años al servicio de sus radioescuchas y comunidad el 15 y 16 de junio con un festival gratis para toda la familia. El festival incluirá homenajes a tres de las más grandes estrellas del género tejano y un concierto con destacados artistas. El evento de dos días incluirá a legendarios intérpretes de música tejana, entre ellos, La Mafia, A.B. Quintanilla, Michael Salgado, Ram Herrera y David Lee Garza y los Musicales, quienes se presentarán en vivo en el parque Rosedale de la ciudad.
El festival rendirá un homenaje especial a Jimmy González, el pionero y leyenda de la música tejana, ganador de múltiples Latin Grammy, que falleció recientemente. Durante el fin de semana, el festival también presentará un tributo a dos desaparecidas estrellas que popularizaron el género. El cantautor tejano Emilio Navaira será reconocido la noche del viernes, y Selena Quintanilla Pérez, la reina de la música tejana, será recordada el sábado.
KXTN, fundada en 1988 para satisfacer la creciente demanda de música tejana, empezó a trasmitir éxitos de artistas consagrados como Valerio Longoria, el Flaco Jiménez, Latin Breed, Royal Jesters y Sunny Ozuna. La popularidad de la estación aumentó desde que los tejanos de origen mexicano hicieron conocido el ritmo entre la corriente general en la década de 1990 con Selena, David Lee, Emilio, La Mafia y Grupo Mazz.

Tras 30 años desde su fundación, el gran legado de la estación continua y este año tuvo un incremento de audiencia de 55% entre Adultos 18-49 y 30% entre Adultos 25-54, en comparación con el otoño de 2017*. Además, en 2016, KXTN se convirtió en la emisora radial oficial en español de los San Antonio Spurs de la NBA.
El festival tendrá lugar el viernes 15 de junio a las 5 p.m. hasta las 12 a.m. y el sábado 16 de junio de 12 p.m. hasta las 12 a.m. en el Rosedale Park, 303 Dartmouth St., San Antonio.
