UNIVISION DEPORTES STRIKES POWERFUL WIN WITH BROADCAST OF USA VS. MEXICO WORLD CUP QUALIFIER, REACHES 8.5 MILLION VIEWERS

USA vs. Mexico Averages 4.5 Million Total Viewers 2+ and 2.5 Million Adults 18-49

NEW YORK – JUNE 12, 2017 – Last night’s highly anticipated face-off between USA and Mexico was the most-viewed soccer match on any network this year, regardless of language. The all-star matchup between the two North American soccer giants took place at Azteca Stadium and averaged 4.5 million Total Viewers 2+ and 2.5 million Adults 18-49 who watched the World Cup Qualifier on Univision, with a simulcast on UDN.

Ending in a 1-1 draw, the Mexico-USA World Cup Qualifier bested FS1’s delivery of the same match by +96% among Total Viewers 2+ and +89% among Adults 18-49, and drew in a larger Hispanic audience than the first four NBA Finals games. Additionally, this was the top World Cup Qualifier match in any language on any network in over four years, since March 26, 2013.

Across local markets, coverage of the Mexico vs. USA match made Univision the No.1 broadcast station during the time-period among Total Viewers 2+ in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas and Phoenix, and among Adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, Miami, Houston, Dallas, San Francisco, Phoenix, and Sacramento.
