Univision Communications Inc and TED Launch TED en Español Podcast to Bring Ideas Worth Spreading to Spanish-Speakers Everywhere

NEW YORK – APRIL 9, 2018 – Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, and TED, the nonprofit devoted to ideas worth spreading, announced today they have joined forces to launch TED en Español, TED´s first non-English podcast. The TED en Español podcast will make Spanish-language TED Talks available to the world for free in audio form. The podcast launches April 26.
The new podcast will be hosted by Gerry Garbulsky, curator of TED’s broader initiative to reach Spanish-speaking audiences, and organizer of the largest TEDx event in the world, TEDxRíodelaPlata in Argentina. The first podcast will premiere at a TED en Español en NYC event in New York City on April 26, a salon-style speaker event.

TED presented its first Spanish-language TED Talks at the TED2017 Conference in Vancouver, BC, with presentations by Univision’s award-winning news anchor Jorge Ramos, former Colombian Presidential Candidate Ingrid Betancourt and Oscar-winning Composer Jorge Drexler, among others. The non-Spanish speaking audience at the event was able to experience the talks via real-time translation.
The partnership with TED is part of UCI’s continued expansion into the digital audio space, and will allow it to build on its existing catalog of high-quality podcast offerings available on the Uforia On-Demand platform. Additionally, the TED en Español podcast will be available for free on Apple Podcasts, TuneIn, Stitcher, RadioPublic, iHeartRadio, or wherever listeners get their podcasts.

NUEVA YORK –9 DE ABRIL DE 2018– Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), la principal empresa de medios de comunicación al servicio de la comunidad hispana en Estados Unidos, y TED, la entidad sin fines de lucro dedicada a la difusión de ideas dignas de compartir, anunciaron hoy que han unido fuerzas para lanzar TED en Español, el primer podcast de TED que no está en inglés. El podcast TED en Español ofrecerá al mundo de manera gratuita el audio de las charlas TED en español. El podcast se empezará a transmitir el 26 de abril.
El conductor del podcast será Gerry Garbulsky, curador de un proyecto más extenso con el fin de expandir la difusión de TED para llegar a la audiencia hispanohablante. Garbulsky también es el organizador del evento TEDx más grande del mundo: TEDxRíodelaPlata en Argentina. El primer podcast se estrenará en un evento de oradores de TED en Español en NYC el 26 de abril en la ciudad de Nueva York.

TED presentó su primera charla en español en la Conferencia TED2017 en Vancouver, Columbia Británica, con presentaciones por el galardonado conductor de noticias Jorge Ramos de Univision, la ex candidata a la presidencia de Colombia Ingrid Betancourt y el compositor y ganador del Oscar Jorge Drexler, entre otros. Durante el evento, los miembros del público que no hablaban español pudieron oír las charlas con interpretación simultánea.
La alianza con TED es parte de la expansión continua de UCI dentro del entorno de sonido digital y le permitirá aumentar a su actual catálogo de podcasts de alta calidad, disponibles en la plataforma Uforia On-Demand. Además, el podcast de TED en Español estará disponible gratuitamente en Apple Podcasts, TuneIn, Stitcher, RadioPublic, iHeartRadio o dondequiera que los oyentes recurran para tener acceso a podcasts.
