Univision News Wins Prestigious Ortega y Gasset Award and Seven Other National and International Prizes for Excellence in Digital Journalism During Q1 2018
In addition to receiving the “Premio Ortega y Gasset de Periodismo 2018,” one of the most important Spanish-language journalism prizes in the world, Univision News has also been honored with four NPPA Best of Photojournalism 2018 awards, a Malofiej 26 Infographics Award from SND, the Robert Spiers Benjamin Award from the Overseas Press Club of America, and the Gannett Award for Innovation in Watchdog Journalism from Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE)
MIAMI – APRIL 4, 2018 – Only three months into 2018, Univision News is proud to announce that it has already been honored with eight prestigious national and international awards for excellence in digital journalism. Competing among some of the world’s most respected media outlets –such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, The Guardian, Financial Times and many others– this year to date Univision News and its team of outstanding digital journalists have been recognized by El País, Spain’s leading newspaper and creator of the Ortega y Gasset Journalism Award; the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA); the Society for News Design (SND); the Overseas Press Club of America; and the Investigative Reporters and Editors organization (IRE).
Considered one of the most important Spanish-language journalism awards in the world, the “Premio Ortega y Gasset de Periodismo 2018” was awarded to Univision News in the category of Best Multimedia Coverage for its original podcast titled Mejor Vete, Cristina (You Should Leave, Cristina), which debuted in September 2017. The seven-episode podcast series chronicles the fascinating story of Cristina Martínez, a Mexican chef whose extraordinary talent has made her a national culinary star despite her undocumented immigrant status. This is the third Ortega y Gasset award received by Univision News.

La Asociación Nacional de Fotógrafos de Prensa es la principal voz que aboga por el trabajo de los periodistas visuales hoy en día.
