WHAT: Ilia Calderón, Univision News anchor and special correspondent for the award-winning primetime newsmagazine “Aquí y Ahora” (Here and Now), became the object of a white supremacist’s bigotry and hate while fulfilling a journalistic assignment. With the cameras rolling during a pre-planned meeting at his home in North Carolina, the so-called Imperial Wizard of the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, Chris Barker, lashed out at Calderón with offensive epithets and threats after he discovered that she was Afro-Latina. Until Calderón entered his property, Barker was unaware of her ethnicity.
Some the topics discussed in between insults included his views on immigration and the accusations made against him and his fellow white supremacists of racism and violence toward minorities.
The entire interview will air as a special edition of Univision’s “Aquí y Ahora.”

QUÉ: Ilia Calderón, presentadora de Univision Noticias y corresponsal especial del galardonado magacín de noticias de horario estelar “Aquí y Ahora”, fue objeto del odio y racismo de un líder del movimiento de supremacía blanca mientras ejercía su labor de periodista. Con las cámaras rodando durante una reunión prefijada en su residencia en Carolina del Norte, el llamado Mago Imperial de la agrupación Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (Leales Caballeros Blancos del KKK), Chris Barker, agredió a Calderón con epítetos ofensivos y amenazas al descubrir que ella es Afro-Latina. Hasta el momento en que Calderón entró a su propiedad, Barker desconocía la etnicidad de su entrevistadora.
Algunos de los temas que se discutieron, entre insultos, durante la entrevista fueron la opinión de Barker acerca de la inmigración, y las acusaciones de racismo y violencia hechas contra Barker y sus compañeros partidarios de la supremacía blanca.
