Margaret Lazo is Chief Human Resources Officer for Univision Communications Inc., the leading Hispanic media company in the U.S. In this role, Lazo leads Univision’s human capital strategy including leadership development, succession planning, advancing diversity and inclusion, organizational design, employee relations, and compensation and benefits. In line with the organization, Lazo’s goal is to attract the finest talent in the industry to Univision while retaining and empowering the extraordinary team currently in place. She also joined T. Howard Foundation’s board of directors to help promote diversity in media and entertainment.
Lazo is an accomplished Human Resources leader. She joined Univision from GE Capital where she most recently served as Human Resources Leader for the North American Commercial Lending and Leasing businesses. While there, she oversaw the sale and disposition of a significant portfolio of assets along with the transition of employees to successor companies. From 2012 to 2013, she led Global Human Resources for GE Commercial Real Estate.
Prior to GE Capital, Lazo served in a number of human resources leadership roles at NBC Universal, including EVP of Human Resources for the cable & broadcast entertainment and digital properties, as well as SVP of Human Resources for Telemundo Communications Group (TCG) and VP of Human Resources for NBC’s owned television stations division. During her tenure, Lazo played a critical role during a period marked by high growth in cable networks, digital investment and transformation, the company’s strategic entry into the Spanish language market, and significant change for the broadcast businesses. She began her career in human resources management at retailer Macy’s.
Lazo holds a degree in Communications from St. John’s University. She currently serves on the Board of the Hispanic Federation, whose mission is to empower and advance the Hispanic community.
