Univision Celebrates Box Office Gold at the PGA

“I created the content that I wanted to see and I created what I know is normal,” said writer/producer Shonda Rhimes on the power of authentic storytelling at the 27th annual PGA Awards in Los Angeles.

Authenticity creates connections, and, as I heard this, I couldn’t help but think back on how our studio partners look to Univision to connect with Hispanic audiences. After all, Hispanics are a force that drives success; according to Nielsen data, Hispanics accounted for $2.3 Billion in 2015 Box Office sales—that’s 21% of all ticket sales. As Vance Van Petten, National Executive Director of the PGA stated “Movies are the one language everyone on this planet speaks.”

And to celebrate the art that makes Box Office gold possible, Univision returned to the PGA Awards as an official sponsor of the Cocktail Hour. A record-breaking year for the film industry coupled with partnerships that drive results; that’s something we can all raise our glasses to.
