Univision Scores Double-Digit Victories Over ABC, CBS & NBC on Thurs Night With Live Soccer Coverage Among A18-34

Univision’s “Ringo” Delivers Two Times More Adult 18-49 and Adult 18-34 Viewers than Telemundo’s “El Sultan” During Premiere Week

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of December 2, 2019 to December 8, 2019

  • On Thursday night, Univision captured the No. 2 broadcast network ranking, out-delivering ABC, CBS, NBC and The CW by double-digits for the entire night among Adults 18-34. The special live coverage of the 2019 Liga MX Apertura Semifinals between Monarcas Morelia and Club América averaged 1.8 million Total Viewers 2+, 937,000 Adults 18-49 and 410,000 Adults 18-34. It was also the third most-watched program on broadcast television with more Adult 18-34 viewers than the entire original primetime line-ups on CBS (“Young Sheldon,” “Unicorn,” “Mom,” “Carol’s Second Act” and “Evil”) and The CW (“Supernatural” and “Legacies”) and drove Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo for the entire night among Total Viewers 2+ (+39% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+49% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+47% adv.).
  • For the entire week, Univision finished as the fifth most-watched broadcast during primetime, ahead of The CW with 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 544,000 Adults 18-49 and 241,000 Adults 18-34, marking the eleventh consecutive week since the start of the current 2019/2020 season that it has surpassed The CW.
  • Univision out-delivered one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on six out of the seven nights last week among Adults 18-34.
  • For the second consecutive week, Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network in primetime with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+10% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+15% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+10% adv).
  • In its premiere week, “Ringo” attracted 1.5 million Total Viewers 2+, 600,000 Adults 18-48 and 278,000 Adults 18-34, propelling Univision to the No. 1 Spanish-language network ranking during the weeknight 8 p.m. hour with doubled the Adult 18-49 and Adult 18-34 audience levels of Telemundo’s “El Sultan.”
    • With year-over-year audience growth of +21% to the network’s Monday through Friday 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. time slot, “Ringo” averaged more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “Modern Family,” “Schooled,” “Single Parents,” “Stumptown,” “The Goldbergs” and “The Rookie;” CBS’ “Blue Bloods,” “Carol’s Second Act,” “Evil,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “Madam Secretary,” “Magnum P.I.,” “Mom,” “Seal Team” and “Unicorn;” NBC’s “Blacklist” as well as The CW’s “All American,” “Arrow,” “Black Lightning,” “Charmed,” “Dynasty,” “Flash,” “Legacies,” “Nancy Drew,” “Riverdale” and “Supernatural.”
  • Univision’s “El Dragón” delivered 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 529,000 Adults 18-49 and 228,000 Adults 18-34 and positioned it among one of the top-rated broadcast networks in the weeknight 10 p.m. hour with double-digit audience advantages over CBS (+36% adv.) and NBC (+29% adv.) among Adults 18-34. The series also out-delivered first-run episodes of The CW’s “All American,” “Arrow,” “Black Lightning,” “Charmed,” “Dynasty,” “Legacies,” “Nancy Drew,” “Riverdale” and “Supernatural” among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
  • With live broadcast of the 2019 Liga MX Apertural Semifinals featuring Necaxa vs. Monterrey, Univision outperformed NBC on Saturday night among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. The matchup between Necaxa and Monterrey drew in more Total Viewers 2+ (+28% to 1.3 million), Adults 18-49 (+45% to 657,000) and Adults 18-34 (+42% to 283,000) to the network’s 9:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. slot from the comparable Saturday last year, making it the fifth and sixth most-watched program on broadcast television with the respective 18 to 34 and 18 to 49 demographics. The sports event also made Univision the No. 1 Spanish-language network for the entire night, out-delivering Telemundo by +57% among Total Viewers 2+, +63% among Adults 18-49 and +85% among Adults 18-34.
