Univision Grows Primetime Audience For Fifth Consecutive Week Among Adults 18-49

Live Soccer Action Propels Univision to Victory Over CBS and NBC for Second Consecutive Saturday Night With Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34

Univision Broadcast Prime Highlights – Week of September 30, 2019 to October 6, 2019

  • For the fifth consecutive week, Univision delivered week-over-week primetime audience growth with the key Adult 18-49 demographic (+2% to 563,000). Meanwhile, ABC (-7%), CBS (-32%) and NBC (-21%) reported audience declines this past week compared to the prior week.
  • For the second consecutive week, Univision finished as the fifth most-watched broadcast network in primetime for the entire week, ahead of The CW with 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 563,000 Adults 18-49 and 235,000 Adults 18-34.
  • Univision outperformed one or more of the English-language broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX) on five out of seven nights last week among Adults 18-34.
  • Univision ranked as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during primetime with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo for the fifth consecutive week among Total Viewers 2+ (+24% adv.) and Adults 18-49 (+25% adv.) as well as third consecutive week among Adults 18-34 (+28% adv.).
  • Monday through Friday, Univision increased it primetime audience from the prior week among Adults 18-49 (+5% to 600,000) and Total Viewers 2+ (+3% to 1.4 million), positioning it as the No. 1 Spanish-language network during weeknight primetime with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo among Total Viewers 2+ (+26% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+25% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+36% adv.).
  • At 8 p.m., “La Rosa de Guadalupe” delivered 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 526,000 Adults 18-49 and 246,000 Adults 18-34. It has also consistently attracted more Adult 18-34 viewers than the second hour of Telemundo’s “Exatlon Estados Unidos” in the last three weeks, outperforming it by +23% this past week.
  • At 9 p.m., “La Usurpadora” averaged 1.6 million Total Viewers 2+, 693,000 Adults 18-49 and 297,000 Adults 18-34, making it the No. 1 Spanish-language network during the weeknight 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. time slot with double-digit audience advantages over Telemundo’s “El Final Del Paraiso” among Total Viewers 2+ (+39% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+33% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+35% adv.).
  • At 10 p.m., “El Dragón” attracted 1.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 581,000 Adults 18-49 and 227,000 Adults 18-34 during its premiere week and outperformed Telemundo’s “No Te Puedes Esconder” by double-digits among Total Viewers 2+ (+64% adv.), Adults 18-49 (+58% adv.) and Adults 18-34 (+53% adv.). The series also attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+34%), Adults 18-49 (+48%) and Adults 18-34 (+47%) than the comparable airings of its predecessor, “Sin Miedo a la Verdad” as well as delivered year-over-year audience growth to the network’s Monday through Friday 10 p.m. hour among Total Viewers 2+ (+20%), Adults 18-49 (+28%) and Adults 18-34 (+23%).
  • Univision’s weeknight series, “La Rosa de Guadalupe,” “La Usurpadora” and “El Dragón” drew in more Adult 18-34 viewers than first-run episodes of ABC’s “American Housewife,” “Emergence,” “Fresh Off the Boat,” “Stumptown” and “The Rookie;” CBS’ “All Rise,” “Blue Bloods,” “Bob Hearts Abishola,” “Bull,” “Evil,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “Madam Secretary,” “Magnum P.I.,” “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “S.W.A.T.;” NBC’s “Blacklist,” “Law and Order: SVU,” “Perfect Harmony” and “Sunnyside” as well as The CW’s “Batwoman,” “Pandora,” “Penn & Teller: Fool US” and “Supergirl.”
  • With live coverage of the Liga MX matchup between Cruz Azul and America, Univision finished ahead of CBS and NBC for the second consecutive Saturday night among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34. Cruz Azul vs. America attracted more Total Viewers 2+ (+31% to 1.3 million), Adults 18-49 (+30% to 651,000) and Adults 18-34 (+24% to 261,000) to the network’s 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. time slot from the comparable Saturday last year, making it the third most-watched program on all of broadcast television with the key Adult 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 demographics. The sports event also propelled Univision to a first-place finish on Spanish-language television with doubled the audience levels of Telemundo for the entire night among Total Viewers 2+, Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.
  • Airing at special time from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday night, Univision’s “Reina de la Canción” averaged 1.2 million Total Viewers 2+, 482,000 Adults 18-49 and 197,000 Adults 18-34. The reality competition series increased its audience in the last half-hour compared to the first half-hour among Total Viewers 2+ (+41%), Adults 18-49 (+18%) and Adults 18-34 (+21%) as well as out-delivered first-run episodes of CBS’ “Madam Secretary” and The CW’s “Supergirl” on this night with Adults 18-34.
