All 16 duopoly markets are ranked among the top 40 Hispanic markets in the U.S.
PROGRAMMING
In addition to carrying the blockbuster programming broadcast by the Univision and TeleFutura networks, the stations air local programming relevant to the issues affecting the local Hispanic markets. The stations are a trusted source of local news and information which builds and fosters a unique bond with viewers.
Local News
Univision has some of the highest rated local newscasts in several major markets across the country. Coverage has significantly increased over the years through investments in staff and facilities for reporting local news. Today, all of the Univision full-power stations broadcast local news twice during weeknights, and most also broadcast weekend local news. In many major markets, Univision local stations have the highest ratings newscasts, regardless of language. In 2Q 2011 (4/1-6/30/11), WXTV Univision 41 in New York and KMEX Univision 34 in Los Angeles led all other stations in the country by securing the #1 and #2 early evening newscasts among all Adults 18-49, regardless of language.
Local Public Service Programs
Univision and TeleFutura stations air local public service programming and announcements covering topics of local and regional interest that are of importance to the Hispanic community. Programs such as “Voz y Voto” (Voice and Vote), reporting on political issues relevant to Hispanics in California and Texas and airing in cities throughout those states, or Miami’s “Ahora en Nuestra Comunidad” (Now in our Community) and New York’s “Noticias 41: En Tu Comunidad” (News 41: In Your Community) have helped the stations forge strong ties to the community.
