Univision has a commitment to improving the financial knowledge and skills of Hispanics, both on a personal level and for the growing number of Hispanic entrepreneurs. In March of 2015, Univision Contigo partnered with the U.S. Small Business Administration to lay the groundwork for a new multi-platform prosperity campaign for the Hispanic community.
The campaign promotes financial literacy and celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit of the community by educating and empowering small business owners with the information and resources they need to start and grow successful enterprises.
Univision Contigo held thirteen prosperity fairs and small business boot camps in 2015. More than 40,000 people attended prosperity fairs and entrepreneurship-focused events—including more than 3,000 small business owners. Univision Los Angeles hosted two large prosperity fairs in Southern California, where 9,700 people participated enthusiastically in workshops and town halls.
UCI also teamed up with Stanford University’s Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative to conduct a comprehensive survey of Hispanic-owned businesses to identify areas for business development and growth (findings to be released in later this year).
