Rosemary Mercedes

Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer

Rosemary Mercedes is Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America.

In this role, Mercedes defines Univision’s overall communications strategy, including the media relations approach for all corporate and business matters, industry issues, and programming and talent publicity efforts.

She works closely with a broad and varied range of constituents, partnering with senior leaders and across all business and corporate units to develop communications strategies that contribute to and advance UCI’s business plan and operating objectives.

An accomplished communications leader with nearly 20 years of public relations experience, Mercedes engages media and influencers through a lens that represents the increasingly diverse new American mainstream, while strategically positioning Univision as the innovative and influential company it is today.

Mercedes has played an integral role in building and executing some of Univision’s most successful communications and awareness campaigns over the past 10 years. Her impact has been recognized by the industry a number of times throughout her career; most recently Mercedes was named to The Holmes Report’s 2016 list of Rising Communications Leaders in North America, she was named among the Top Women in PR by PR News and as one of the Top 40 Under 40 PR Professionals in the U.S. by PR Week magazine. Mercedes also serves on the executive steering committee for eMERGE, UCI’s network of young professionals dedicated to representing the unique voice of next generation leaders.

Prior to Univision, she worked in various public relations roles across sectors, including nonprofit and higher education. Her professional background includes international experience having worked at Halogen Communications, a public relations firm in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she partnered with clients across the education, social responsibility and property sectors.

Mercedes earned a Master of Arts in Corporate and Public Communications from Seton Hall University, where she also mentors current undergraduate students through the Communication Honors Associates Mentoring Program (CHAMP). She is fluent in Spanish and conversational in French.
