Univision Music Group Becomes Top Latin Album Label for Second Consecutive Year
Leading U.S. Latin Label At The Forefront of Latin Music In 2004
Woodland Hills, CA -- For a second consecutive year, Univision Music Group topped Billboard’s Year In Music & Touring Lists in the Latin categories, becoming the indisputable leader as the Top Latin Album Label in the United States, according to Billboard Magazine’s December 25, 2004 issue.
Univision Music Group, comprised of Fonovisa Records, Univision Records and Disa Records, once again, established itself as the single most successful Latin recording company in the continental United States and Puerto Rico. The label garnered top honors as No.1 in several areas, including Top Regional Mexican Album Label of the year.
Heading this list is super star recording artist Marco Antonio Solis, whose album “La Historia Continúa” became the year’s No.1 Top Latin Album and Hot Latin Pop Album, and also the No.1 Hot Latin Track for “Mas Que Tu Amigo.” In addition, Solis ranked No.2 in the Top Latin Albums Artists, and Hot Latin Tracks Artists charts.
Los Temerarios, comprised of brothers Adolfo and Gustavo Angel, and cousin Fernando Alba, landed the No. 1 spot on the year-end Top Latin Album Artists and Top Regional Mexican Album Artists charts, due in part to top-charting titles "Tributo al Amor" and their most recent studio album, "Veintisiete."
In like manner, Fonovisa Records once again reigned supreme in the Regional Mexican category, continuing its strong hold as the No. 1 Top Regional Mexican Albums Imprints, Hot Regional Mexican Airplay Imprints and Hot Regional Mexican Tracks Label.
Without doubt, this extraordinary feat continues to solidify Univision Music Group as the irrefutable leader in the Latin music industry. The label prides itself in launching artists whose work has set and broken records on radio and sales charts and whose talent has set them among the high ranks of Latin music. By the same token, Univision Music Group continues to be at the forefront of identifying and developing new artists such as Grammy-nominated songstress Jennifer Peña, Platinum-recording and Grammy-nominated Latin Hip Hop sensation Akwid, urban music phenomenon Jae-P, and young and talented newcomers Yolanda Perez and Betzaida in the Regional Mexican and pop scenes, respectively.
