JAE-P, Urban Regional Movement’s Poet, Exceeds the 70,000
Unit Mark in Sales with Limited Radio Airplay
Young and talented latin rap artist corroborates the popularity of urban regional music and the indisputable success of his debut album “Ni de aqui ni de alla”
Woodland Hills, CA -- In roughly three months, Jae-P’s debut album “Ni De Aqui Ni De Alla (Not From Here Nor There) with Univision Records exceeded sales of over 70,000 units in the U.S. with very limited radio airplay, confirming once again his innate talent and the Latin audience’s unexpected support of this new music genre.
As the Urban Regional movement continues gaining momentum on a national level, Jae-P, the fresh and cutting edge Angelino coined by Latin media as the “Urban Regional Movement Poet,” is beginning to send shock waves across California and the west coast. This name was given to him as a result of the impressive social conscious lyrical content that depicts his style and defines him as a truly unique artist in this up-and-coming music genre.
Jae-P’s astonishing success has been as refreshing as it has been unexpected, since his first promotional single, “Ni De Aqui Ni De Alla (Not From Here Nor There), has had very little radio airplay and has become a major feat due to the unconditional fan base support and the arduous work Jae-P and his team have invested since the album was released at retail stores in early September of this year.
“Ni De Aquí Ni De Allá,” features nine new tracks produced by Byron Brizuela of Brizz Productions. This “enhanced CD” also features three bonus tracks, a photo gallery and the music video for “Ni De Aquí Ni De Allá” directed by Estevan Oriol. The album touches upon some of our community’s most delicate social fibers such as the topic of family disintegration in tracks like “Un Padre No Es”(A Real Father Is) and “Perdóname Amá”(Forgive Me Mom), a theme that he also disperses throughout the album in interludes, such as “Apá Me Puedes Ayudar?” (Dad, Can You Help Me?).
“The things I rap about are about my life and I’m sure that the life I lead or that I talk about in my songs is representative of the experiences of many people. In other words, I don’t just talk about me but also about other people’s lives. There are many people who’d like to say what I’m saying, so a lot of them relate to my music; they feel it,” said Jae-P.
Jae-P, like many Latino kids brought up in the U.S., identified with his predominantly Hispanic surroundings. He listened to Regional Mexican musicians such as Ramón Ayala, Chalino Sánchez, Vicente Fernández, Los Tigres del Norte and Javier Solís. At the same time, Jae-P became attached to the irreverent lyrical content and infectious rhythms of African-American Rap music. His love for the two undoubtedly laid the foundation for his own unique form of musical expression.
The album crossed the border at retail stores nationwide on September 9th, 2003.
