Univision KTVW 33, The Latino Institute and the City of Phoenix Bring Back the Magic of the “3 Wise Men” to Phoenix

Grand event, photo shoot, toy giveaway, will take place following the “3 Wise Men” parade

Phoenix, AZ -- The leader in Spanish-language television in Arizona, Univision KTVW 33, in collaboration with the City of Phoenix and The Latino Institute, will bring to Phoenix for the first time in its history the magic of a truly Hispanic holiday tradition: “Los Reyes Magos” (“The 3 Wise Men”) with a grand parade through the City of Phoenix followed by a toy give-away Sunday, January 4th, 2004.

The parade, in its first-edition, will showcase several community organizations, including the Arizona Cardinals, Arizona State University, Phoenix Elementary School District, South Mountain High School, mariachi and folkloric groups from Mexico and South America, the “Cowgirls” with their horses, Regional Cowboys, the Phoenix Suns Hummer, a team of City of Phoenix Police Motorcycle Officers, and the City of Phoenix Fire Department, among others. The main attraction will be, of course, the appearance of the 3 Wise Men, escorted by the Univision Girls dressed as “Cleopatra” and real camels.

The parade will start at 1 p.m. on Central Avenue and McDowell Road, will continue through Central Avenue and will end at Margaret T. Hance Park in Phoenix.  Following the parade a grand event will take place where families will receive gifts and have the opportunity to take pictures with the 3 Wise Men. During the event over 2,000 toys will be given away and more than 1,000 pictures will be taken free of charge.

There will be buses at Park Central Mall (on Central Ave and Earl St.) to provide free transportation to the point of start for the parade and to Margaret T. Hance Park.

The event will feature the presence of several dignitaries of the City of Phoenix, Univision’s local on-air talent, and the 3 Wise Men as the guests of honor. The event will also feature entertainment for the entire family.

Also, on Friday, January 2nd, 2004, Univision 33 will broadcast the arrival of the 3 Wise Men to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. There, City of Phoenix dignitaries and others will greet them upon arrival. Later that day, the 3 Wise Men will visit the Univision 33 studios. Their visit will also be broadcasted on UNIVISION.

Join Univision Arizona, The Latino Institute and the City of Phoenix this January 4th in celebrating in all its splendor a holiday tradition that celebrates the Hispanic Heritage in the most traditional Hispanic Christmas celebration: The 3 Wise Men will come to Phoenix, with Univision 33.
