Univision’s WUVP And General Motors Philadelphia Area Dealers to Offer Phase II of Free Auto Sales Training Program for Bilingual Hispanics

Philadelphia, PA -- Today The Greater Philadelphia Area Chevrolet- Pontiac-GMC Dealers, along with Univision 65 (WUVP-TV) and Business For Life, a training and coaching company that specializes in assisting corporations in the development of their Hispanic sales forces, announce PHASE II of the Latino G.R.E.A.T. Jobs! Program, a FREE program designed to offer Philadelphia-area bilingual Hispanics sales training and potential automotive opportunities through a specially developed GM Certified Spanish Sales Training Workshop.

Last March, The Greater Philadelphia Area Chevrolet-Pontiac-GMC Dealers and Univision 65 launched Phase I of the Latino G.R.E.A.T. Jobs! Program - Great being an acronym for Goal is Recruitment Extending Advanced Training.

The pilot program which graduated over 70 Philadelphia-area bilingual Hispanics reflects the dealers’ commitment to creating and nurturing a diverse workforce.  13 graduates are achieving success and enjoying their new careers.  During the first 12 weeks of the program, over 230 cars were sold.  PHASE II will continue to build upon the success established in Phase I.

Univision 65 (WUVP-TV) will promote the workshops to its viewers and encourage interested them to call a toll-free number for additional information. Candidates will then be invited to attend a “Career Night,” where Saul Serna, President and CEO of Business for Life, will discuss the benefits as well as the skills needed to have a successful automotive sales career. All “Career Night” attendees will then be eligible to enroll in the GM Certified Program, from which the top graduates may have an opportunity for employment with one of the 160 participating members of The Greater Philadelphia Area Chevrolet-Pontiac-GMC Dealers.

“This has been a wonderful experience. The dealerships were very professional and made me feel confident.  Working for the company has made a complete change in my life,” said Carlos Puerta, sales person and graduate of the program. “ I have sold about 40 cars.  Now, I feel anything is possible and reachable.”

"Univision remains excited to be a part of a program that embraces workforce diversity with an innovative approach to tap into the rapidly growing Latino buying power by servicing the needs of Latino consumers," said Diana Bald, General Manager of Univision 65 (WUVP-TV). "The successes we have seen from Phase I, reach beyond increases in automotive sales to include intangibles such as customer loyalty and the instilment of a sense of pride, accountability, and respect among the hired graduates."

“We are very pleased with the results from the initial launch and are more committed than ever for Phase II and beyond for The Latino GREAT Jobs! Program,” commented Dave Klemm, Marketing Manager for the Philadelphia Area Chevrolet Dealers.

With four years experience assisting Fortune 500 corporations with their Hispanic training initiatives, Saul Serna will deliver the GM Certified Sales Training Workshops on the fundamentals of selling new and used cars to Spanish-speaking or bilingual customers.  The 21 hours of training will be divided between on-site and on-line formats.
