Univision 41 World Cup Dominates Gotham Eyeballs this Weekend

New York, NY -- Live coverage of World Cup Soccer semi-final and final games on Spanish-language TV station Univision 41 (WXTV) here dominated its time period in the overnight Nielsen Station Index household ratings released today. 

The semi-final game, pitting South Korea against Turkey, was seen on Univision 41 in 309,000 New York area TV households between 6:30 am and 9 am on Saturday, June 29.  The runner up in the time period was WNBC Channel 4, whose programming was seen in 228,000 New York area TV households at the same time.

The final game, in which Brazil defeated Germany to win the World Cup, was seen on Univision 41 in 373,000 TV households between 6 am and 10 am on Sunday, June 30.  Univision coverage Sunday included both pre and post game broadcasts.   In the time period the runner up was WABC-TV Channel 7, whose programming, which omitted the pre and post game programs but included an English-language broadcast of the World Cup final, was seen in 342,000 TV households.
