Univision 23, Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Santillana U.S.A. Form a Historical Alliance to Promote the Educational Benefits of Bilingual Reading
"Club de Libros 23" Debuts on Univision-23 in "Al Amanecer"
Miami, FL -- For the first time ever Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Santillana USA, a leader in the publishing of books in Spanish for children, and Univision 23 partner in an effort to promote bilingual reading in public schools with the debut of the “Club de Libros 23” (Univision 23’s Book Club) in “Al Amanecer” (morning News show) on October 1st.
This will be an ongoing project throughout the school year. Santillana USA will be donating books to each of the schools featured in the weekly segment. “Club de Libros 23” will feature weekly reading segments with news anchor Eileen Cardet in “Al Amanecer” highlighting the importance of reading in education and the positive messages that can be found in books.
The segments will be taped weekly from various South Florida schools throughout the school year. In addition, Santillana USA will donate two libraries at the end of the school year through a raffle conducted amongst all the participating schools.
“El Club de Libros 23 “ kicks off on Thursday, September 26th at 9:00AM at Kensington Park Elementary with a presentation and book signing by renowned children’s authors Alma Flor Ada and Isabel Campoy, a student’s character parade portraying various Santillana books, and community and education professionals reading aloud to students throughout the school.
