Univision 23 Joins with Brickell Motors to Protect Children with Car Seat Safety Program

Miami, FL -- Despite the fact that the use of child car seats has been proven to save many young lives, as well as the fact that the state of Florida has a law requiring the use of car seats and booster seats until the child is at least 4’9” tall, many Florida drivers still fail to use this simple yet effective safety measure.  To address these concerns, as well as the belief that the safety of children should be the greatest priority, Univision 23 (WLTV 23 / Miami) and Brickell Motors are launching a child seat safety campaign, with the hope that the dissemination of this information will save the lives of many more children.  On September 20, 2003, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Spanish-language television station and Brickell Motors will host a day that showcases the importance of child car seats and booster seats.  The event takes place at Brickell Honda, 665 Southwest 8th Street, Miami.

During the event, car seat safety technicians from Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami-Dade County Police, and the City of Miami Police Department will demonstrate the proper installation of child car seats and check the installation of car seats currently in use.  Representatives of the American Automobile Association (AAA) will distribute brochures about how to keep children safe while driving.  Brickell Motors will give away car seats to 20 lucky drawing winners.  Univision 23’s Javier Romero and Catalina Garcia will be on hand to meet participants, and there will be face painting and free safety-related entertainment for children.
