History Repeats Itself

Renan Almendarez Coello, “El Cucuy de la Tarde,” on KSCA (FM) La Nueva 101.9 is Los Angeles’ #1 Afternoon Drive Host, Topping Ratings Chart for 6th Consecutive Year

Los Angeles, CA -- Univision Radio is proud to announce that Renán Almendarez Coello, on KSCA(FM) “La Nueva” 101.9 is once again the number one afternoon drive host in Los Angeles, topping the Arbitron ratings chart for the past 6 years.  According to the recent Summer Arbitron ratings book, Renán achieved the highest ratings in the afternoon from 3pm-7pm among all Los Angeles radio stations, English or Spanish, and among all significant age and gender demographics.

Eleazar Garcia, Vice President and Operations Manager of Univision Radio in Los Angeles, said, “Renán Almendarez Coello’s (El Cucuy) very loyal listeners have made his afternoon show a tremendous sensation, with audience levels over twice the size of his closest Spanish-radio competitor.  His impressive ability to improvise and understand his listeners has helped him to achieve unprecedented success in the largest Hispanic market in the United States.”

Formerly known as “El Cucuy de la Manana,” Renán held the title of the #1 morning drive personality in Los Angeles for a historical record of over 5 1/2 years or 22 consecutive Arbitron surveys (Summer 1998 - Winter 2003).  Since his move to afternoons in February 2003, “El Cucuy de la Tarde,” has climbed the ladder of success once again to become the king of the afternoon drive.

Garcia continued, “As he continues to top the Arbitron ratings, Renan has proven again that that not only does he have star-power; he has also earned the unquestionable loyalty of a powerful minority group in the United States.”
