“El Talismán” Delivers Highest U.S. Produced Novela Premiere
Reaches 5 Million Total Viewers and Generates Strong Social Media Engagement with More than 40 Million Twitter Impressions
NEW YORK, NY – JANUARY 31, 2012 – Over 5 million Viewers 2+ tuned in to all or part of the Univision Network’s one-hour premiere of “El Talismán” on Monday, January 30 at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central). Last night’s premiere delivered an average audience of 3.8 million Total Viewers 2+, 2.1 million Adults 18-49 and 1.2 million Adults 18-34. In addition, the premiere generated strong social media engagement with more than 40 million impressions on Twitter, according to Radian6.
Compared to “Eva Luna,” the last Venevision novela production in collaboration with Univision Studios, last night’s premiere of “El Talismán” delivered 14% more Total Viewers 2+, 15% more Adults 18-49, 16% more Adults 18-34, 28% more Women 18-49 and 38% more Women 18-34 in comparison to the “Eva Luna” premiere on November 1, 2010.
In the time period, “El Talismán” positioned Univision as the No. 2 broadcast network, beating ABC, CBS, NBC and the CW among Men 18-34. The novela also made Univision the No. 4 broadcast network, beating NBC and the CW among Adults 18-34 and Women 18-34; and additionally among Men 18-49 beating ABC and the CW. In fact, the novela premiere was watched by more Adult 18-34 viewers than the entire primetime line-up of NBC’s “Who’s Still Standing,” “Fear Factor” and “Rock Centre with Brian Williams” and the CW’s 100th episode of “Gossip Girl” and “Hart of Dixie.”
For the entire night, the novela premiere helped Univision rank as the No. 2 broadcast network, behind FOX among Adults 18-34 and Men 18-34. “El Talismán” also positioned Univision as the No. 3 broadcast network, beating CBS, NBC and the CW among Women 18-34; and beating ABC, NBC and CW among Men 18-49. The novela helped Univision rank as the No. 4 broadcast network, beating NBC and the CW, among Adults 18-49 and Women 18-49.
On local Univision stations, “El Talismán” was the No. 1 broadcast program in the time period among Total Viewers 2+ in Miami; among Adults 18-49 in Miami and Houston; and among Adults 18-34 in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston and Sacramento.
“El Talismán,” a Venevision production in collaboration with Univision Studios, stars Blanca Soto, the lead actress from Univision’s hit “Eva Luna,” Aarón Díaz from the popular novela “Teresa,” and renowned novela actor Rafael Novoa. The novela tells the story of three families, Los Aceves, Los Negrete and Los Najera, which for wanting the California ranch named El Talismán, will create hatred, rivalry and destruction to many of their family members’ lives.
As part of its comprehensive engagement strategy to create interactive experiences, Univision provided fans social media exclusive access to the stars of “El Talismán” and a peek at the set during a special broadcast with the novela’s cast on “El Gordo y La Flaca” (The Scoop and the Skinny). Guided exclusively by Univision’s Ana Patricia Gonzalez, fans were able to engage with Blanca Soto, Rafael Novoa and Aarón Díaz via Twitter and Google+, in addition to connecting with others about the novela through @ElTalismanTV, facebook.com/ElTalismanTV and Univision’s Foros.
