Live Online and Mobile Streaming of Match Engages Fans at UnivisionDeportes.com
MIAMI– AUGUST 17, 2012 – Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced that its live coverage of the international friendly featuring the United States National Team against the Mexican National Team reached 8.1 million viewers who tuned in to all or part the broadcast.
In their first friendly played in Mexico in 28 years – a widely anticipated exhibition since the U.S. had previously never won a match on Mexican soil, Univision’s coverage of the USA vs. Mexico match ranked as the No. 1 program on the night regardless of language among Adults 18-34, Men 18-49 and Men 18-34. The friendly also helped position Univision as the No. 1 network in primetime among Adults 18-34, Men 18-49 and Men 18-34, beating ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC, as well as every cable network regardless of language.
Airing on Wednesday, August 15 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:13 p.m., the USA vs. Mexico international friendly averaged 4 million Total Viewers 2+, 2.2 million Adults 18-49 and 1.3 million Adults 18-34.
In addition, the match positioned Univision local stations throughout the country as the No. 1 broadcast stations during the time period in:
- Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco and Phoenix among Total Viewers 2+
- Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Phoenix and Sacramento among Adults 18-49
- Los Angeles, Miami, Houston, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Phoenix and Sacramento among Adults 18-34
The USA vs. Mexico international friendly was also the No. 1 broadcast program of the day in:

In fact, in Los Angeles, Univision had over twice the audience of the ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX stations combined among Adults 18-49, and more than five times the audience among Adults 18-34.
On social media platforms, the USA vs. Mexico international friendly was the No. 1 broadcast show on Social TV for Wednesday, August 15, according to SocialGuide.
