New York, NY — Univision revealed its newest reality program for the 2011-2012 broadcast season, “Si Se Puede” (It’s Possible), from Dave Broome, the creator of The Biggest Loser, and Emilio Estefan. The program will be coproduced by Estefan Film and Television Productions and Broome’s 25/7 Productions. “Si Se Puede” is a new fitness and weight loss competition geared towards Hispanic families who wish to lose weight and change their lives for the better. The reality show is slated to air on the Univision Network in early 2012.
“‘Si Se Puede’ is another example of the powerful, exclusive entertainment programming Univision brings to Hispanic America,” said Cesar Conde, president of Univision Networks. “This program featuring real life challenges will connect and entertain families like never before.”
“I’m thrilled to be making this ground-breaking series with Univision, that will not only be fun and entertaining, but will also be motivational and hopefully inspire millions of people around the world,” said Broome.
“I’m proud to partner with Univision and Dave Broome to produce television that will promote healthier and happier families especially at a time when obesity amongst Latinos is at an all time high. It’s been my life work to help others fulfill their dreams and I know this show will change the lives and fulfill the dreams of many,” said Estefan.
The program will feature three to four families, a panel of judges, and a team of trainers and nutritionists who will help contestants achieve their goal of significantly shedding off pounds for a healthier body. “Si Se Puede” will feature an array of challenges, including outdoor activities that integrate outside audiences for an interactive experience. Production kicks off in Los Angeles this October.
Fans will count on multiplatform access to “Si Se Puede” with a dedicated site online and on mobile at www.Univision.com that will feature exclusive footage not available on TV, contestant bios, weekly recaps and episodes on demand. Users will also be able to follow the fitness regime with healthy recipes, nutrition and exercise tips. On mobile, users will be able to vote for their favorite contestant, watch full episodes and receive SMS alerts for the latest on the program.
“Si Se Puede” will air weekly in primetime, showcasing entertainment and sports personalities. Exclusive elements of the program will be cross-integrated on Univision’s entertainment programs.
