Fresno, CA — Univision Radio, the leading Spanish-language radio company in the United States, announces the addition of its newest radio station, KOND “Qué Onda 92.1 FM,” which will serve Fresno and the Central Valley with a soft Regional Mexican format. “Qué Onda” will feature artists such as Alejandro Fernandez, Pepe Aguilar, Los Temerarios, and Los Bukis. The station will begin broadcasting Thursday, February 19th, 2004.
Weekday mornings, “Qué Onda” will feature “Piolin por la Mañana” starring the popular Eddie “Piolin” Sotelo. “Piolin por la Mañana” is a highly rated variety morning show that airs on Univision Radio stations in the Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas and San Francisco markets. The high-energy morning show contains an array of segments with upbeat musical elements, featuring the most popular and best of Mexican regional music including Banda Recodo, Los Tigres del Norte, and Tucanes de Tijuana.
The remainder of the day will originate from the KOND Fresno studios with “La Chica Qué Onda,” Cely Ledesma airing middays from10am-3pm. Juan Fernando Ojeda will headline the afternoons broadcasting from 3pm-7pm. Ojeda is originally from
Univision Radio’s Estéreo Sol in San Francisco. Evenings will feature Maria Angelica from 7pm – 12 Midnight and the overnight shift will feature Hector Mendiola.
