Univision’s Despierta America Welcomes New Co-Host, Popular Venezuelan Entertainer Raúl González

Miami, FL — Univision Network’s top rated morning talk/entertainment show, Despierta América (Wake Up America) has added a new member to its lively team of co-hosts: Raúl González, Venezuelan actor, singer and award-winning television host. After many guest appearances, González has become a regular on the show, sharing his enthusiasm, contagious energy and quick wit with millions of viewers, live, every weekday morning.

González brings to Univision a rich background in the entertainment business. He began his career at a very early age, acting in children’s theatre in his native Caracas. In his early twenties, for five consecutive years, he hosted the highest rated kid’s TV show in Venezuela, “Supercrópolis,” becoming the nation’s most popular and recognized figure among young audiences, and winning various awards for excellence as a television host. Meanwhile, he became the spokesperson for major international consumer products, continued working in theatre, and wrote and recorded three successful music CDs targeted to children. In 1994, he moved to Miami, where he worked as a producer of children’s programming, hosted a series of specials for the Discovery Kids and Nickelodeon cable networks, and co-hosted “Sobre Ruedas,” a popular Spanish-language AM radio program. Currently, he can be heard throughout South Florida every afternoon on the radio show “Las Tardes Calientes de 107.5 AMOR FM.”

Now, as the newest personality on Despierta América, González has become an official member of the Univision family, and a welcome face in Hispanic homes across the U.S. The show’s other co-hosts are Fernando Arau, Giselle Blondet, Ana María Canseco and news anchor Neida Sandoval.

Launched in April 1997, Despierta América has become Hispanic America’s number one favorite morning show, increasing viewership year to year and consistently staying on top of the ratings charts. It is watched by more Hispanic adults 18-49 than any other morning show on the air in the U.S.A., including NBC’s “Today,” ABC’s “Good Morning America” and CBS’s “Early Show.”
